Hello! I wanted to start by formally introducing myself and my favourite people to you. My name is Amber, and I'm so excited to begin this blogging journey - thank you so much for stopping by! I am looking forward to sharing my favourite little moments with you and to use this platform as a creative outlet where I can connect and share with other mamas and like-minded individuals. I work full-time as an archivist at a municipal archives and love what I do, but nothing compares to motherhood and what I have learned from my tiny humans.
Meet my little loves, Bray and Henry.
Bray came along in June 2009. I had been dating her dad for about three months when I first met her and I couldn't resist her big blues and precious smile. Before meeting Bray, the concept of being a stepmom was not necessarily in my life plan, but what is life without a few surprises along the way? I am so happy it ultimately became my reality, and I could not imagine my life without Bray in it. She has been such a bright light in our world and made us realise very early into our relationship that all you need in life is love. And we had a whole lot of love for her and for each other. Although I did not give birth to her, she is my daughter, and I love her beyond what words can describe.
Bray has a sweetness and gentle kindness to her that reminds me of her dad. She loves collecting things, drawing us pictures and going for family walks in the forest. She is a board gamer and loves reading - we always have a novel on the go! She is smart, athletic, sings in the car and has a silly side to her, but is also very serious, thoughtful and wise beyond her (almost) 9 years. The best thing about Bray is how much she loves her little brother, Henry. She is kind to him, teaches him, and is always willing to help him, no matter what he is interrupting. She is the best at making Henry laugh from his belly, and it is my favourite thing in the whole world.
Henry joined our family in March 2016. He absolutely adores his big sister and thinks everything she does is amazing and hilarious. I love watching Henry discover his world and can't believe how quickly he learns and how fast he changes. Sometimes, I wish I could pause time and hold on to each little moment, but I know with every passing stage another exciting milestone is on its way. As I met Bray when she was three months old, having a newborn was a completely new experience for us. There is seven years between Bray and Henry, which is something I worried about so much, but it has worked out perfectly. Bray accepted him into our family so warmly and we are so grateful for her helping hands and kind heart that truly loves her brother so, so much. Henry loves reading, colouring and dancing. He spends most of his days playing music. If he doesn't have his guitar handy, he has no shame in pulling out his air guitar, broom guitar, potato guitar... you get the picture! He is very affectionate and I can't get enough of his messy kisses, the way he says "I love you, Mama!" and every adorable question he has about the world around him. He has truly added so much love to our family and makes our days brighter.
I have been married to my best friend, Scott, for almost six years. He is the best father and our children absolutely adore him. He is genuine, kind and thoughtful, and can carry a conversation with anyone about anything. He is one of the smartest individuals I know and I value his thoughtful opinions and his willingness to help others. Scott is working on his PhD part-time and works full-time as a First Responder. We are both lucky to have careers we love and enjoy, but it can definitely make our lives a little hectic at times. It feels like we are always adjusting and trying to find a balanced routine that we never seem to truly achieve. As he works shift work, there are definitely challenges that come with his schedule, but as crazy as our life can be, I wouldn't have it any other way.
That's us in a nutshell, but I have so much more to share with you! I hope you continue to follow along and get to know us a little better. I will try to post here as often as I can, but be sure to check out my Instagram for Bray + Henry adorableness on the daily.
